The inaugural ceremony of the Sri Lanka Association for Animal Nutrition (SLAAN) was successfully held on 8th May 2026 at The Grand Kandyan, Kandy, marking the establishment of a professional platform dedicated to advancing animal nutrition science, industry collaboration, and sustainable livestock development in Sri Lanka.
The event was honored by the participation of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya as the Chief Guest, alongside the Director General of Agriculture as a distinguished guest. Academic representatives from leading Sri Lankan universities including Peradeniya, Wayamba, Rajarata, Ruhuna, and Uva Wellassa further strengthened the significance of the occasion through their presence and support.
SLAAN also received best wishes from the Additional Secretary (Livestock) of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Director General of DAPH. The participation of Kevin Roepke, Deeba Giannoulis, and other USSEC technical experts added valuable global perspective and technical insight to the event.
The inauguration brought together industry professionals, researchers, academics, stakeholders, and sector representatives, creating a strong platform for knowledge exchange and future collaboration within the livestock and feed industries.
Key highlights of the event included the official launch of the SLAAN website, the unveiling of the Founding Advisory Council, Office Bearers, and Committee Members, as well as technical presentations and an engaging Q&A session focused on industry advancement and scientific progress.
